Man City head coach Pep Guardiola has made a final decision regarding João Cancelo‘s future. Pep has decided that he does not need a player who causes mayhem in the locker room. The Portuguese player won’t get a chance to play for City as long as Guardiola is in charge.

Cancelo, who is 28 years old, is currently on loan at Bayern Munich, and no one is willing to pay 70 million for him. Barcelona is interested in signing João, but it is widely known that they don’t have enough money and even have a debt from the Ferran Torres transfer.

So, how could City avoid Cancelo and make some money? According to the British media, Man City has offered Bayern Munich an interesting swap deal. Joshua Kimmich, Guardiola’s favorite player during his time at Bayern, wants to leave the club, so City has proposed a swap deal for Kimmich, with an additional 15 million included, allowing the German giants to retain their versatile defender.

İlkay Gündoğan, who is 32 years old, has a contract expiring at the end of the season, and no agreement has been reached yet. Guardiola sees Kimmich as a perfect replacement for Gundogan. Barcelona has made several attempts to contact Gundogan, indicating their involvement in numerous transfers.

Arsenal is considering a possible move for Cancelo’s transfer, but City directors object to selling any more players to Premier League rivals.

In conclusion, what we know about João’s situation is that he won’t play for City in the next season. City is trying to offload him, but it will be a tough case as the 70 million release clause is unreachable. Barcelona is interested in many Man City players, including İlkay, Bernardo Silva, Cancelo, and Laporte, but they lack the necessary funds. Players will not be sold to Arsenal. Bayern Munich sporting director Hasan Salihamidžić is not really satisfied with Cancelo’s performances. There are rumors about Kimmich and a potential transfer to Barcelona, but we know what the Spanish side lack.

Cancelo has been playing for Manchester City since 2019 and was a key figure in the defense before his conflict with Pep Guardiola. On January 31, 2023, he was loaned to Bayern Munich due to his desire for more playing time.

Just two days ago, while celebrating the Premier League title, Guardiola stated, “At the beginning of the season, I go to my sporting director and ask, ‘Do any players have a clause that says they have to play every game?’ Not one player’s contract says they have to play. They have to accept my decision.”

The versatile defender has previously played for Valencia, Inter Milan, and Benfica throughout his career. He has made 42 appearances for the Portugal National Team. Cancelo is a rare player who can effectively play as a left-back, right-back, and central defender.
