Julian Alvarez Double against Burnley

Manchester City defeated Burnley 3-1, with our Argentinian player, Julian Alvarez, scoring twice on his birthday.

Alvarez opened the scoring in the 16th minute following a brilliant play by Matheus Nunes. At the 22nd minute, Kevin De Bruyne and Alvarez executed a combination after a free-kick, and Julian finished it perfectly.

Rodri netted the third goal for Manchester City and later commented on Alvarez’s quality: “I’m so happy for him because his season has been great. He’s now 24, but he’s the future of Man City. He’s so well-adapted, and I’m so happy for him…”

This season, ‘La Araña’ contributed 8 goals and started all the games in the starting lineup. In the period of November/December, he was even our best player, and all the victories came from his productive plays.

Despite the return of KDB and Erling Haaland, Julian is expected to maintain his place in the XI.

Kevin De Bruyne, reflecting on his assist to Alvarez against Burnley, stated: “Yesterday, we worked on it. I didn’t really want to do it. But the defender with Julian moved into the middle. So he opened space to go into. I just had to put it straight with the right speed…”

In the last season, when Alvarez made 31 appearances and struggled to find enough practice time, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid attempted to tempt him. However, Pep Guardiola assured that he is the future of Manchester City.

Alvarez practically completed his football journey at the age of 23, having won the World Cup, Champions League, Premier League, and other titles.

‘The Spider’ joined City in January 2022 for €21.40. He continued playing for River until July, and on the 7th of July, became a member of the City squad. The Argentinian’s contract expires in 2028.

Due to Alvarez’s successful transfer, Manchester City maintained its path to acquire players from Argentina. Subsequently, Máximo Perrone brought his talents from Velez, and he is currently on loan at Las Palmas. Two weeks ago, we signed 18-year-old Claudio Echeverri from River Plate. He has been left on loan, and we will observe what unfolds next.
